International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the achievements of women.
At Vivo Surgical, Dr Therese Sim leads the Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance team where she supports the growth of the company through overseeing key certification applications and maintenance of strict ISO standards. Her responsibilities include establishing internal SOPs for regulatory compliance and ensuring that our products follow the highest levels of safety and quality.
On top of managing a demanding role at the workplace, Therese is a mother of 2 energetic toddlers whom she devotes her time outside the office to. She is also passionate about baking and enjoys spending her weekends whipping up pastries for her family, friends and colleagues who are often blessed with delicious cookies and tarts.
Regrettably, women in most workplaces continue to be prejudiced against - especially after starting a family. Juggling between motherhood and a professional career can prove to be a huge challenge for women everywhere. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Collectively, companies need to provide continuous support to women at all life stages, enabling equitable access for leadership opportunities and recognition for their achievements.
